Executive Director/ Percussion Caption Head- Matt Young
Matt Young is a Music Education Major at the University of West Georgia. A native of
Georgia, Matt came to the team from the Metro Atlanta area from Cumming, Ga. He
has marched with such organizations as Court Of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps
(2003,2004), Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2005), Odyssey Percussion
Theatre (2007), Corpsvets (2007 and 2008), the Atlanta Falcons Drumline (2008) and
the University of West Georgia Marching Band(2003-2007). At the university, Matt
has become the arranger for the battery percussion and a member of the percussion
staff, and has been on staff since 2006. He is also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi,
National Honorary Band Fraternity Inc. Matt fell in love with percussion while in high
school when saw the high school marching band. From that point on, he decided to
make music his life. Matt will be the snare technician for the Atlanta CorpsVets in the
2009 season. Matt has written for and taught lines all across Georgia including Bowdon
High, Carrollton Indoor, McIntosh High, Rome High, Amuchee High, and Bremen
High.
Visual Consultant/ Drill Writer - Chris Sink
Chris Sink is the assistant band director at Heritage High School and a native of
Stockbridge, Georgia. He received his bachelors degree in music education at the
University of West Georgia . Chris has marched with such distinguished ensembles as
Spirit from Jacksonville State University, and Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle
Corps. Chris is also proud members of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band
Fraternity Inc., and Phi Mu Alpha Simfonia. He has been Visual Caption Head at
Temple High School and the drill writer for the University of West Georgia. He has
taught such schools as Pope H.S., Stockbridge H.S., Temple H.S., Lakeside H.S., and
the University of West Georgia.
Battery Percussion Technician- Armand Tyson
Armand Tyson is from the Brunswick, Georgia area. He is currently studying music
education at the University of West Georgia and is in his junior year in the program.
Armand marched with Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004, where the corps
took 3rd place and won high percussion in the Division III category. He is also a
member of the University of West Georgia Marching band and has been on the
snareline since his freshman year. Armand is member of Phi Delta fraternity, which is a
music fraternity founded at the University of West Georgia. He is currently the
instructor and arranger for Villa Rica High School percussion section, and has taught at
Amuchee H.S., Temple H.S., Bremen H.S., and Villa Rica H.S.
Front Ensemble Coordinator/ Arranger- Daniel Isaacs
Daniel Isaacs is from Young Harris, Georgia and originally from Norcross, Georgia. He
is currently finishing up his certification in music education at the University of West
Georgia, and will be finished in Spring 2009. Daniel served as Graduate Assistant for
Percussion/Band for University of West Georgia and assisted in the band program &
percussion studio. He received his B.M. Degree in Music Performance w/composition
from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. Daniel received a music
scholarship and he has performed in many instrumental ensembles such as the
Southern Pride Marching Band, Georgia Southern University Wind Ensemble, Georgia
Southern-Statesboro Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Indoor
Drumline, Jazz Combo, and Concert Band. He is an active member of Georgia Music
Educator's Association, Percussive Arts Society, National Band Association, Music
Educators National Conference, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Daniel has taught at
Meadowcreek H.S., Habersham Central H.S., White County H.S., Hart County H.S.,
Towns County H.S., Johnson County H.S., Statesboro H.S., University of West
Georgia, and Claxton M.S. & H.S. where he served as Director of Percussion Studies.
He currently resides in Carrollton, Georgia.
Visual Technician- Courtney Emmett
Courtney Emmett is a native of Cumming Georgia. She is a recent graduate of the
University of West Georgia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology,
and is now in pursuit of her masters in professional counseling . She has been part of
many ensembles, including Court of Honor Drum(2003, 2004) and Bugle Corps as well
as the Corpsvets Drum and Bugle Corps(2005, 2007, 2008). In 2004, Courtney was
awarded the "Best Visual Member" award for Court of Honor and has since been
awarded with "Most Outstanding Hornline Member" in the Corpsvets program. She was
once a member of the University of West Georgia marching band, where she was
section leader her senior year, and a proud member of Sigma Alpha Iota. She has 13
years of dance experience, including ballet and jazz, and has danced with groups such as
the Duluth School of Ballet, The Atlanta Ballet and the GCSU Dance Team.
Visual and Front Ensemble Technician- Aaron Queener
Aaron Queener is orginally from Middletown, Delaware. He is currently studying music
education at the University of West Georgia and will be finished in Fall 2009. He is also
currently the Drum Major for the University of West Georgia's “The Sound that Light's
the South” Marching Band. He has marched with the University of Delaware's Fightin'
Blue Hen Marching Band (2000-2004) plus he was the brass section leader for the last
three years, Reading Buccaneers (2004), & Atlanta Corpsvets (2008). Aaron has
performed in many instrumental & vocal ensembles such as Delaware's Wind
Ensemble, Jazz Band, Basketball Pep Band, Choral Union, Men's Chorus, Collegium
Musicum, University of West Georgia's Wind Ensemble, and Brass Ensemble. Aaron
has been an Assistant Band Director at Middletown High School (Delaware) and Elkton
High School (Maryland). He has been a Visual Caption head for Temple High School
(Georgia) and Elkton High School (Maryland), University of West Georgia, and a
Marching Technician for Visual Arts Production Company (Delaware). Aaron is also
the Staff Arranger for the 287th Army Band in Wilmington, Delaware. He is a member
of Music Educator's National Conference, International Association for Jazz
Education, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently resides in Carrollton, Georgia.
