Frequency is a non-profit organization that operates exclusively in the field of
indoor percussive arts. Frequency is here to give men and woman ages 13-22, an
opportunity to learn life lessons and leadership skills through the medium of the
performing arts. Things such as pride in a group, commitment, teamwork, and
passion are words that describe traits that students will experience through
Frequency. Frequency is here to give the indoor experience to the Metro Atlanta and
North Georgia areas and bring a higher understanding of marching percussion to
those communities.
Mission Statement
Frequency is a non-profit organization that promotes the advancement of the
medium of percussion by offering a unique educational experience for young
people, providing innovative ideas through music, and building the next generation
of leaders in the Metro to North Georgia area through the performing arts.
History
Frequency Inc. was founded as Frequency Percussion on November 1st 2007. In its
first year in the Southern Association of Performing Arts circuit Frequency placed
2nd at Pope, 2nd at Chapel Hill, 1st at Forsyth Central and placed 2nd overall in
the Independent A classification for the 2008 championships. In 2009 the group
changed its name to NGI Frequency, because of its affiliation with Northgate High
School band, and band boosters. NGI Frequency furthered its development in
taking the 2009 WGI Spartanburg Regional Independent A title and finishing 2nd in
the Southern Association of Performing Arts circuit for the 2nd year in a row. In the
2010 season, NGI Frequency continued its high level of excellence and performance
by taking 1st in WGI Nashville, 1st at the SAPA championships, with an undefeated
season in the SAPA circuit, and took the group to the next level by participating in
the WGI world championships in Dayton, Ohio, where they placed 14th in the world
in Independent A classification. 2011 Frequency changed its name to Frequency
Inc. where they repeated as the 2011 SAPA champions and for the first time is
organizational history where WGI finalists, placing 11th overall in Dayton, Ohio.
The executive director is Matt Young and the Ensemble is officed in Cumming,
Georgia.
